Station Square

The Station Square

The Station Square will be a welcoming and vibrant public space providing a new connection to Ewell East Station. Subject to approval from Surrey County Council the existing footpath could be enhanced. The Square will provide a heart to the development and a valuable new amenity for the wider community. Designed as a place to arrive, meet and spend time, it will serve local residents, commuters and visitors to the area.

The buildings around Station Square will provide frontage around the public space, with windows that look out on to the Square. Heights are proposed to be between 3 and 5 storeys. Homes will also look onto the existing footpath making the route more welcoming and pleasant to use.

The square will provide a mix of retail units, helping to create activity throughout the day. Generous hard landscaped areas will allow for outdoor seating, informal gathering and small-scale activity. Ecological planting will enhance comfort and biodiversity.

The Square will include cycle parking areas and short term car parking provision in accordance with the council’s parking standards, so that locals can access Station Square with its shops and amenities, and so that they can cycle to the station.

We welcome feedback from local people on what they would like to see included. Potential uses could include:

• A coffee shop or café

• A small convenience store

• A pharmacy

• A Post Office

Connecting to the station

The new connection to Ewell East Station makes the site a sustainable location for new development, Taking the opportunity to develop this site will encourage more people to make their journeys by rail – a sustainable way to travel.

Currently the station accommodates just under 500,000 journeys per year, this has the potential to increase, reducing reliance on cars – a less sustainable method of transport.
